Introducing ASAI Bangkok Chinatown

With our upcoming opening set to shake up Bangkok’s most up-and-coming neighbourhood, we thought you might appreciate a little rundown of what’s in the new locale.

Chinatown is actually pretty sprawling and includes Talat Noi along the Chao Phraya River, plus Khlong Thom and Nakhon Khasem along Charoen Krung Road. But the main action is centred around Yaowarat Road, where a rich history of Thai-Chinese culture meets a buzzing gastronomic scene. The shophouses and hidden temples make for a nostalgic escape from the shiny, ultra-modern city centre, and with cafes, bars, galleries and local markets there are lots to discover.

Location and Neighbourhood

ASAI is located right in the midst of Chinatown. Lots of the action takes place at night, when it transforms into a foodie paradise, with choices from noodle soups, BBQ pork and Peking duck to stir-fry vegetables, sweet desserts and some of the best seafood in town. For the thirsty ones, Soi Nana is a short stretch, home to some of Bangkok’s coolest bars.

Conveniently it’s just two minutes’ walk to the new MRT Wat Mangkon, and less than one hour drive to both airports, Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

Concept

ASAI Bangkok Chinatown is designed to give millennial-minded travellers the opportunity to experience the neighbourhood like a local. The playful interiors draw on the history of the area, but all the features are functional and built for purpose. The hotel takes up five floors above a four-floor retail space and the 224 comfy rooms (between 18 to 26 sqm) have superior quality beds and high pressure rain showers.
The heart of ASAI Chinatown is our hub on the fourth floor, where communities and travellers can come together to eat, work, play and connect. There’s an efficient work space, a lounge area, a bar, a restaurant curated by local chefs, a courtyard with a botanical garden and the check-in and -out kiosks, not to mention a fully equipped gym, and a retail shop selling local brands and products. So… we’ve got everything you need.

Eating and Drinking

We’re all about life’s simple pleasures: bringing people together over great food and drinks. Part eatery, part bar, the casual dining spot at ASAI Bangkok Chinatown will put you at ease as you take your time choosing from western comfort foods and Asian favourites. The seasonal farm-driven menu is curated in collaboration with well known local chefs, who will use the freshest ingredients possible, lots of them picked from the exclusive on-site organic garden.
